Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 September 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the video games developed by Nitroyale Ltd ("Nitroyale", "we", "us"), currently Dirtnap, Silly Walks and Hitty Knife, together with any future games we release (the "Games"). It does not apply to the nitroyale.com website.

1. Who we are

Nitroyale Ltd is a game studio registered in Finland. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Nitroyale Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, except where a publishing partner acts as controller as described in section 3.

2. Data we collect

We keep data collection to what the Games need to run, stay stable and be fair to play.

Data you give us

Your platform display name and platform identifier (for example your Steam ID, Game Center or Google Play Games profile) when you sign in through that platform.
Messages you send us if you contact support.

Data collected automatically

Device information such as device model, operating system version, language and screen size.
Gameplay and progression data such as levels completed, scores, unlocks, settings and match results.
Crash reports and performance diagnostics.
Approximate location derived from your IP address, used only for regional settings and matchmaking.
Advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) where a mobile Game shows ads and you have allowed tracking.

Multiplayer data (Dirtnap)

Your Steam ID and display name are visible to other players in the same match and on scoreboards.
Match data, including player actions, is transmitted between players to run the game. LAN matches stay on your local network.
Steam Workshop content you publish is governed by Steam's own terms.

3. Platforms and publishing partners

Some Games are distributed or published together with partners. In those cases the partner may collect data under its own privacy policy, which applies alongside this one:

Silly Walks is published by Part Time Monkey Ltd.
Hitty Knife is published by Ketchapp and co-developed with Part Time Monkey Ltd.
Dirtnap is published by Part Time Monkey Ltd and distributed through Steam (Valve Corporation).

Apple, Google and Valve also process data when you download, purchase or play the Games through their stores. Their privacy policies apply to that processing.

4. Third-party services in the Games

The Games may include the following categories of third-party software development kits (SDKs):

Analytics to understand how the Games are played and to fix problems.
Crash reporting to detect and repair errors.
Advertising networks in free mobile Games, to show and measure ads.
Platform services such as Steamworks, Game Center and Google Play Games for achievements, leaderboards, cloud saves and multiplayer.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We choose providers that support the platform-level privacy controls described in section 7.

5. Why we use your data

To run the Games, save your progress and provide multiplayer matches (performance of a contract).
To keep the Games stable, secure and free from cheating (legitimate interest).
To understand and improve the Games (legitimate interest).
To show and measure advertising in free mobile Games (consent, where required).
To respond to your support requests (legitimate interest).
To comply with legal obligations.

6. How long we keep data

Gameplay and progression data is kept for as long as you play the Game and for a reasonable period afterwards. Analytics and crash data is kept in aggregated or pseudonymous form for up to 24 months. Support messages are kept for up to 24 months after the request is resolved. We delete or anonymise data sooner when it is no longer needed.

7. Your choices

Ads and tracking: on iOS use Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; on Android use Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Platform profile: you can manage what other players see through your Steam, Game Center or Google Play Games settings.
Local data: uninstalling a Game removes locally stored data from your device. Cloud saves are managed by the platform.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you are in the European Economic Area you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Finland this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

9. Children

The Games are not directed at children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Games or the law change. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be announced in the affected Game or on its store page.
